Norwegian seafood exports for the first six months of 2016
Norway exported seafood worth NOK 42.6 billion in the first six months of 2016. This is an increase of 25 per cent or NOK 8.6 billion when measured against the first six months of 2015. Seafood worth NOK 7.1 billion was exported in June. This is an increase of 22 per cent or NOK 1.3 billion compared with June of last year.
NOK 27.9 billion worth of salmon was exported in the first six months. This is an increase of 28 per cent or NOK 6.2 billion when measured against the first six months of 2015. The average price for fresh whole Norwegian salmon in June was NOK 65.43, per kg versus NOK 40.85 per kg in June of last year.
Norway exported trout worth NOK 1.9 billion in the first six months. This is an increase of 103 per cent or NOK 978 million from the first six months of last year. NOK 348 million of trout was exported in June. This is an increase of 79 per cent or NOK 154 million compared with June of last year. The largest purchasers of trout from Norway were Belarus and Japan.
Increase for fresh and frozen cod
Fresh cod, including fillets, worth NOK 1.6 billion was exported in the first six months. This is an increase of 16 per cent or NOK 218 million compared with the first six months of 2015. Fresh cod, including fillets, worth NOK 110 million was exported in June. This is a growth of 8 per cent or NOK 8 million compared with June of last year.
Frozen cod, including fillets, worth NOK 1.3 billion was exported in the first six months. This is an increase of 40 per cent or NOK 364 million compared with the first six months of 2015. Frozen cod, including fillets, worth NOK 175 million was exported in June, which is an increase of 5 per cent or NOK 8 million compared with June of last year.
Down for clipfish, up for salted fish
NOK 1.6 billion worth of clipfish was exported in the first six months. This is a decrease of 12 per cent or NOK 229 million compared with the first six months of 2015. Clipfish worth NOK 283 million was exported in June, a decrease of 20 per cent or NOK 72 million compared with June of last year.
NOK 898 million worth of salted fish was exported in the first six months. This is an increase of 6 per cent or NOK 48 million compared with the first six months of 2015. Salted fish worth NOK 52 million was exported in June. This is a decrease of 43 per cent or NOK 39 million compared with June of last year.
Up for herring and mackerel
NOK 1.4 billion worth of herring was exported in the first six months. This is an increase of 52 per cent or NOK 476 million compared with the first six months of 2015. Herring worth NOK 331 million was exported in June. This is an increase of 22 per cent or NOK 60 million compared with June of last year. Germany and Poland were the largest markets for herring in the first six months.
NOK 1.2 worth billion of mackerel was exported in the first six months. This is an increase of 37 per cent or NOK 319 million compared with the first six months of 2015. Mackerel worth NOK 104 million was exported in June. This is a decrease of 38 per cent or NOK 62 million from June of last year. South Korea and Japan were the most important markets for mackerel in the first six months.
