    Small dip in October sales for Norwegian salmon

    The export value of Norwegian salmon was NOK 4 billion in October. This represents a small decline of NOK 130 million, or 3 per cent, compared with October 2013. The first time that salmon´s monthly export value has fallen in two years. So far this year Norwegian salmon exports have totalled NOK 35.8 billion, NOK 4.5 billion, or 14 per cent higher than the same period in 2013.

    Norwegian exports of cod, saithe and haddock reached nearly NOK 1.2 billion in October. An increase of NOK 358 million, or 43 per cent, compared with October 2013. Year to date, exports of cod, saithe and haddock have totalled NOK 8.7 billion, an increase of NOK 1.3 billion, or 18 per cent on the same period in 2013, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council.

    Norway exported herring, mackerel and other pelagic fish to a value of NOK 1.7 billion in October. This is an increase of NOK 118 million, or 7 per cent, from October 2013. Year to date exports of herring, mackerel and other pelagic fish from Norway are NOK 5.7 billion. This marks an increase of 10 per cent in export value year on year.
