Norway exported seafood worth NOK 7.1 billion in August
Norway exported seafood worth NOK 7.1 billion in August. This is an increase of 32 per cent or NOK 1.7 billion compared with August 2015. Year-to-date seafood exports currently total NOK 56.3 billion. An increase of 25 per cent or NOK 11.2 billion compared with the same period in 2015.
Salmon and trout
Salmon exports were NOK 5.3 billion in August. An increase of 42 per cent or NOK 1.6 billion from August 2015. So far this year, salmon exports have totalled NOK 37.8 billion, an increase of 29 per cent or NOK 8.5 billion. The average price for whole fresh salmon in the month of August was NOK 58.24 per kg compared with NOK 43.30 per kg in August 2015. Poland and France were the biggest buyers of Norwegian salmon in August.
In August, trout exports totalled NOK 355 million. This is an increase of 102 per cent or NOK 179 million from August 2015. Year-to-date exports of trout have amounted to NOK 2.6 billion. An increase of 97 per cent or NOK 1.3 billion compared to the same period last year. Belarus and Japan were the largest markets for Norwegian trout in August.
Fresh and frozen cod
In July, exports of fresh cod, including fillets, totalled NOK 69 million. An increase of 7 per cent or NOK 4 million from August 2015.
So far this year, exports of fresh cod, including fillets, have totalled NOK 1.8 billion. This is an increase of 13 per cent or NOK 197 million from the same period in 2015.
Norway exported frozen cod, including fillets, were worth NOK 161 million in August. This is an increase of 31 per cent or NOK 38 million from August 2015. So far this year Norway exported frozen cod, including fillets, worth NOK 1.6 billion. An increase of 35 per cent or NOK 425 million from the same period last year.
Clipfish and salted fish
In August, exports of clipfish totalled NOK 263 million, a decline of 14 per cent or NOK 45 million from August 2015. So far this year, exports of clipfish have been worth NOK 2.1 billion. This is a decline of 13 per cent or NOK 305 million from the same period last year.
In the month of August, exports of salted fish totalled NOK 46 million. An increase of 94 per cent or NOK 22 million. So far this year, exports of salted fish have totalled NOK 983 million. An increase of 8 per cent or NOK 72 million from the same period last year.
Herring and mackerel
In August, exports of herring were worth NOK 147 million. This represents a decline of 12 per cent or NOK 20 million compared with August 2015. Year-to-date, herring exports have reached NOK 1.8 billion. An increase of 40 per cent or NOK 517 million from the same period last year. Germany and Poland were the largest markets for herring in August.
In August, exports of mackerel totalled NOK 60 million. A decline of 30 percent or NOK 26 million from August 2015. So far this year, exports of mackerel have totalled NOK 1.3 billion. This is an increase of 18 per cent or NOK 197 million. South Korea and Japan have been the most important markets for mackerel in 2016.
