Increased volume and reduced value for exports of pelagic fish in 2017

Despite a decline in seafood exports in September, Norway has exported 1.8 million tonnes of seafood with a value of NOK 69 billion so far this year. This is a volume increase of 3 per cent, and a value increase of 6 per cent or NOK 3.7 billion measured against the same period last year.
August was a good month for Norwegian seafood exports. Norway exported 165,000 tonnes of seafood worth NOK 7.5 billion in August. Volume was 2 per cent higher, while export value increased by 7 per cent or NOK 501 million compared to August last year.
Norway exported 163,000 tonnes of seafood with a value of NOK 7.6 billion in May. The volume was at the same level as May 2016, while export value increased by NOK 888 million or 13 per cent. So far this year, Norway has exported 1.1 million tonnes of seafood worth NOK 39 billion. Export volumes have increased by 3 per cent, while the year-on-year growth in value is NOK 3.2 billion or 9 per cent.
Norway exported 78,000 tonnes of herring and 68,000 tonnes of mackerel with a total value of NOK 1.7 billion in the first quarter. During the same period, Norway exported pelagic fish worth a total of 2.1 billion. While volume decreased by 6 per cent, the value grew by 7 per cent compared with the first period last year.
Norway exported pelagic fish worth some NOK 621 million in January. This represents an increase of 24 per cent from January 2015.
Norway exported pelagic fish for NOK 2.4 billion in the first half of 2015. This is a decrease of 12 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Norway exported herring, mackerel and other pelagic fish with a combined value of NOK 1.1 billion in November. This is 1 per cent, or NOK 9 million higher than the previous year. Year to date exports of herring, mackerel and other pelagic fish from Norway totalled NOK 6.8 billion. This is an increase of 8 per cent compared with the same period in 2013.
