Norwegian shellfish exports lower in first half of 2017

Norway exported 23 000 tonnes of shellfish worth NOK 766 million in the first six months of 2017. This is a decrease in volume of 22 per cent and a decline in value of 17 per cent versus the same period last year.

Norwegian seafood exports grow by 13% in May

Norway exported 163,000 tonnes of seafood with a value of NOK 7.6 billion in May. The volume was at the same level as May 2016, while export value increased by NOK 888 million or 13 per cent. So far this year, Norway has exported 1.1 million tonnes of seafood worth NOK 39 billion. Export volumes have increased by 3 per cent, while the year-on-year growth in value is NOK 3.2 billion or 9 per cent.

New country of origin mark for Norwegian seafood

The Norwegian Seafood Council are today launching a new country of origin mark for Norwegian seafood, “Seafood from Norway”. The new mark guarantees the origins of seafood from Norway and contributes towards a stronger position for Norwegian seafood globally.

Total pelagic exports reach NOK 2.1 billion in Q1 2017

Norway exported 78,000 tonnes of herring and 68,000 tonnes of mackerel with a total value of NOK 1.7 billion in the first quarter. During the same period, Norway exported pelagic fish worth a total of 2.1 billion. While volume decreased by 6 per cent, the value grew by 7 per cent compared with the first period last year.

Norwegian whitefish exports total NOK 4.2 billion in Q1 2017

Norway exported 129 000 tonnes of cod, saithe, haddock and other groundfish to a value of NOK 4.2 billion in Q1 2017. This is a 5 per cent increase in terms of volume and a 6 per cent increase in value from the same period last year. The biggest increase was for frozen products, particularly frozen whole fish. But there was also a substantial increase in exports of whole clipfish.
